In spite of being figurative is this set meant to play chess indeed. Burmese chess has its own rules, which are quite different from our chess.

The following figurative sets are most likely made for the tourist market. Maybe set 2 (and 4?) could have been meant for play!? I don't believe the date of the 1st set and doubt about the 2nd. These sets have been made to look old, most likely.
